PREP SOFTBALL: Columbia drops to 0-4 with loss to Baldwin

BALDWIN — A rough start to the season hasn’t dampened the spirits of the Columbia softball team. But after three consecutive losses to start the year by a combined six runs, the Tigers might’ve thought their moment was right around the corner.

PREP BASEBALL: Suwannee takes advantage of errors, miscues to top Columbia

For the first time in two years, Columbia and Suwannee faced off. It’s a rivalry new Suwannee coach Billy Moran is happy to have back, especially after his team’s performance Thursday night.

BOYS WEIGHTLIFTING: Columbia tops Buchholz, Hamilton County in tri-meet

Columbia won its home opener Wednesday, tallying 65 points in traditional to top Buchholz (28) and Hamilton County (15) in a tri-meet. The Tigers won eight of their 10 weight classes, which included a meet-best 625 total from Chase Johnson in the heavyweight class.

PREP BASEBALL: Phillips hits for cycle to lead Columbia past Santa Fe

A triple is always the hardest quarter of the cycle. So when Ayden Phillips drove a ball into the outfield in the fifth inning, he wasn’t slowing down or stopping at second base. “It didn’t matter if I was going to get thrown out at third or not, I was going,” Phillips said.
