PREP SOFTBALL: Columbia knocks off Class 6A No. 10 Oakleaf

The pressure was on Columbia pitcher Kinley King. Amya Mirelez had just hit a 2-RBI double to pull Oakleaf within a run, and it started to feel like déjà vu again for the Tigers. Columbia was once again up on a team ranked in the top-10 with a lead slipping away in the seventh inning.

Angry after an 11-0 loss one night earlier to North Florida Christian, Ayden Phillips took the mound for Columbia on Wednesday with some attitude. He set the tone early with his arm, then delivered with his bat, and the Tigers bounced back with a big win.

PREP FLAG FOOTBALL: Florida High shuts out Suwannee in regional quarterfinals

FHSAA RANKINGS: Columbia baseball up to third in Region 1-5A, softball still a spot out

Columbia’s baseball team continued to climb in this week’s FHSAA rankings with less than two weeks to go in the regular season. The Tigers (10-11) rose to third in Region 1-5A following a 4-game winning streak that included a win over class 4A No.
