PREP SOFTBALL: Senior trio leads Fort White to run-rule win over Dixie County on Senior Night

FORT WHITE — Fort White scored early and often Thursday against visiting Dixie County. Perhaps too often. The Class 1A No. 3 Indians recorded a 10-run second inning before polishing off a 15-0 run-rule win over the Bears in just three innings of work on Senior Night.

PREP FLAG FOOTBALL: Suwannee holds to beat Columbia for District 3-1A title

LIVE OAK — With Columbia successfully shutting down playmaking receiver Hannah Humphries, Suwannee turned to Jessica Tran. The junior quarterback answered the call, leading the Bulldogs with 78 rushing yards on 17 carries, including her 20-yard scramble for a late first-quarter score.

Columbia catcher Emily Delgado had an intriguing premonition about her team just hours before the Tigers were to take on Class 1A No. 1-ranked Trenton.  The Tigers, she said, are either going to play great, or have a very bad game.

PREP BASEBALL: Maddox's grand slam helps Columbia rally past Santa Fe

ALACHUA — Casen Maddox’s first varsity home run couldn’t have come at a better time for Columbia. It lit a fire under the rest of the lineup too. With his team down three runs, Maddox hit a go-ahead grand slam that was only the beginning of a huge sixth inning for the Tigers.

PREP ROUNDUP: Scores and stats from 4/8/24

Hayden Adams, Carson Capallia, Aaron Parnell, Ben Bullard and Cadan Hall each had an RBI while Tucker Flynn threw a one-hitter to lead Fort White’s baseball team to an 11-0 run-rule win over St. John Lutheran in five innings at home.
