PREP SOFTBALL: Fort White blanked in rematch with Baker County

GLEN ST. MARY — Rylee Walker had Fort White’s number from the first batter to the last. And in a rematch of top-5 teams in their respective classes, it spelled bad news for the Indians.

PREP SOFTBALL: Columbia gets big morale boost with comeback win over Santa Fe

After a heartbreaking loss to Middleburg last week, Columbia’s season could only go one of two ways. The Tigers either let it define their campaign and watch the rest of the year fizzle away, or they rally together and use it as a learning experience. On Tuesday night, they went with the latter.

PREP SPORTS: Suwannee's baseball, softball teams move up a playoff spot in latest FHSAA rankings

There wasn’t a whole lot of movement in the latest FHSAA rankings this week, except for Suwannee’s baseball and softball teams each moving up a spot to sixth in their respective regions after each being seventh last week. Suwannee’s baseball team (7-5-1) has a 7.

BOYS WEIGHTLIFTING: More than 60 area lifters to compete at regionals

Columbia will lift Thursday at the Region 1-2A meet at Choctawhatchee High School. Fourteen lifters will compete for the Tigers after their performances at districts last week.

PREP SOFTBALL: Trenton topples Fort White in pitcher’s duel

TRENTON — Through five innings, Fort White looked to have the top-ranked team in Class 1A in a chokehold. Pitcher Kadence Compton looked untouchable, having struck out eight of the 18 Tigers batters she’d faced and getting help from her defense along the way.

PREP TRACK & FIELD: Suwannee boys win Jungle Open, Columbia boys & girls place 2nd

Behind six first-place finishers, the Suwannee boys won the inaugural Columbia High Jungle Open on Saturday. The Bulldogs tallied 201 points to edge the hosts, who finished with 172 in the seven-team meet that also saw Fort White place sixth with 24.
