Columbia’s volleyball team placed second at the Oak Hall Tournament on Saturday, defeating Oak Hall 2-1 (25-20, 11-25, 15-12) and P.K. Yonge 2-0 (25-15, 25-16) after opening with a 2-0 loss to Buchholz 2-0 (25-21, 25-17).
Sinei Wood and Kayla Goodloe each combined for 19 kills in the three matches, with Wood adding five blocks and 28 digs while Goodloe had three blocks and five aces. Mylie Fernandez set them up consistently with 59 assists to go along with her three blocks and 13 digs.
Avery Sandlin led the Tigers (6-2) defensively with 29 digs and also combined for a team-high eight aces. Cassidy O’Neal chipped in with 10 kills and a pair of blocks in the tournament as well.
VOLLEYBALL
— Branford sweeps tri-match: The Buccaneers improved to 10-3 and extended their winning streak to eight with a pair of sweeps over Sneads (25-22, 25-18, 25-13) and Blountstown (25-20, 25-20, 25-11) on Saturday.
