Live Oak Artists Guild hosting Meet and Greet

LIVE OAK — The Live Oak Artists Guild is looking to meet — and greet — new artists. LOAG invites artists from all mediums and genres to come to a Meet and Greet on May 7 from 1-4 p.m. at the Live Oak Library, 1848 Ohio Ave. S. The guild, since 1979, has focused mostly on the visual arts.

Regional artists ready to shine in Jam spotlight

LIVE OAK — Years of trying will finally pay off today when the 29th annual Suwannee River Jam kicks off. Kyle Brigham, an O’Brien singer, has long tried to play his way onto one of the Jam’s stages. To no avail. Then, finally, he earned one of the regional artists spots two years ago.

Early voting underway in Live Oak

LIVE OAK — Voting is underway in the City of Live Oak. Early voting for the District 1 and District 4 council seats began Monday and will continue through Saturday at the Suwannee County Judicial Annex, 218 Parshley St. SW. During early voting, polls will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

Parents sue after death of teen from Florida ride

ORLANDO — The parents of a 14-year-old boy who fell to his death from a 430-foot drop-tower ride in central Florida’s tourist district sued its owner, manufacturer and landlord on Monday, claiming they were negligent and failed to provide a safe amusement ride.

DeSantis signs election integrity bill

TALLAHASSEE — A measure to create a first-of-its-kind office in Florida to investigate voting irregularities, along with making other changes in the state’s elections system, was signed into law Monday by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
