Sedition trial underway for Meggs, Oath Keepers leader

WASHINGTON — Jury selection began Tuesday in the trial of the founder of the Oath Keepers extremist group and four associates charged with seditious conspiracy, one of the most serious cases to emerge from the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Hurricane Ian forces NASA to shelter moon rocket

CAPE CANAVERAL — Hurricane Ian is prompting NASA to move its moon rocket off the launch pad and into shelter, adding weeks of delay to the lunar-orbiting test flight. Mission managers decided Monday to return the rocket to its Kennedy Space Center hangar.

The voting was over and almost all ballots were counted. News outlets on Nov. 7, 2020, had called the presidential race for Democrat Joe Biden. But the leader of the Oath Keepers extremist group was just beginning to fight.

NASA crashing spacecraft into asteroid

CAPE CANAVERAL — In the first-of-its kind, save-the-world experiment, NASA is about to clobber a small, harmless asteroid millions of miles away. A spacecraft named Dart will zero in on the asteroid Monday, intent on slamming it head-on at 14,000 mph (22,500 kph).

Suwannee millage stays same

LIVE OAK — There will be no change in the millage rate for Suwannee County residents. At a five-minute public hearing Monday, the Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved the final millage rate and final budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year.
