Simon sacks Ausley for state senate seat

A former Florida State football star tossed an incumbent state senator for a loss Tuesday in the Florida Senate District 3 race.
Corey Simon, a Tallahassee Republican, defeated Tallahassee Democrat Loranne Ausley with 53% of the vote, according to unofficial numbers.

Powerball jackpot up to $1.6B, new record

DES MOINES, Iowa — Strong sales boosted a Powerball jackpot to an estimated $1.6 billion on Friday, making it the largest lottery prize in history.
A drawing will be held Saturday night for the Powerball prize, which hasn’t been won in more than three months.
