ORLANDO — A local EMS director has earned statewide recognition. During the EMS Provider Awards on Wednesday in Orlando, Century Ambulance’s Medical Director Dr. Colby Redfield received the Raymond H. Alexander - EMS Medical Direction Award from the Florida Department of Health.

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s unemployment rate might be about as low as it can go as it remained at 2.7% in August. The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity on Friday released a report showing the rate unchanged from July.

JASPER — This dog is not a Georgia man’s best friend. Roland “Trey” Roper III, a 38-year-old from Fargo, Ga., was arrested Wednesday for stealing a $6,000 dog on Tuesday near his owners house at the intersection of County Road 141 and State Road 6.
