Lafayette chooses architect for EOC, jail

Pearl Harbor survivor Williams turning 101

As we remember all of those who served on Veterans Day, one Navy veteran can look back on service during World War II. On Monday, Nov. 13, two days after Veterans Day, Ervin Seay Williams will turn 101 years old. He was born in North Florida and he looked back on his life in a recent interview.

Republican candidates unified on Israel, not China

MIAMI — In their first debate since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, the Republican presidential candidates all declared hawkish support for Israel but squabbled over China and Ukraine as they faced growing pressure to try to catch Donald Trump — who was again absent.

Kelly-Moore donates paint for storm restoration efforts

MAYO — Home repair and restoration efforts following Hurricane Idalia got a fresh new look recently in Lafayette County.

LHS Drama hosts ‘Mayo’s Got Talent’

The various talents of Lafayette County students will be on display today. The LHS Drama Class is hosting “Mayo’s Got Talent” at 6 p.m. today at the LHS cafeteria. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Live Oak Disaster Recovery Center closing Friday

The Mobile Disaster Recovery Center in Suwannee County will be moving on this weekend. The mobile site, located at Memorial Field at the Douglass Center site, 617 Ontario Ave. SW near the Emergency Operations Center in Live Oak, will close permanently Friday at 5 p.m. The site is open from 9 a.m.

Flagging down heroes: Veterans tribute on display on State Road 47

The local effort to honor veterans for Veterans Day started early. Volunteers and Lake City firefighters used drills, hammers and other tools to place nearly 300 crosses bearing the names of veterans alongside State Road 47 on Saturday, adding an American Flag to each cross.
