Another week, another resignation by a person in the City of Lake City hierarchy. David Young, Lake City Director of Growth Management, tendered his resignation to interim Mike Williams, interim city manager, on Thursday, Sept. 30, with effective resignation date of Friday, Oct. 15.

Good Samaritan arrested after fleeing from police

Trying to help someone move their belongings, the would-be Good Samaritan instead was arrested Sunday night on a handful of charges after running from authorities. According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy spotted a gray Dodge pickup around 9:20 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE — The former State Attorney’s extortion and bribery case won’t go to trial until next year, if it does at all. A U.S. District Court judge for the Middle District of Florida granted a continuance in the trial Thursday that Jeff Siegmeister requested earlier this week.
