Teen killed in late-night wreck

One teenager was killed Thursday night and four others injured in a single-vehicle wreck south of Lake City. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan traveling south on SW Tustenuggee Avenue around 10:40 p.m. Thursday traveled off the road near SW Minnie Glen and struck a tree.

DOT: U.S. 41 lanes to be closed at night

Nighttime lane closures are expected this week on U.S. Highway 41 north of Lake City. The Florida Department of Transportation said crews from Anderson Columbia will begin repairing and replacing sidewalks and ADA ramps along the road as part of the $6.1 million project on the highway.

No ETA on city hall opening

Lake City residents will have to wait a while before accessing a city hall that contains all the traditional services.

A project that was conceived roughly 10 years ago finally broke ground Wednesday on a small sliver of land in central Columbia County with promises of environmental and economic impacts in the area.
