Lake City building projects are now in the hands of Columbia County. At a special meeting Saturday morning, the Lake City Council approved an agreement to name the county’s building official as the city’s as well.

A traffic stop in downtown Lake City turned into a manhunt Friday evening. Two suspects were still at large Friday night, while one suspect was apprehended with the assistance of a Florida Highway Patrol helicopter.

Bird thief can’t fly away

There was no flying the coop for a local bird thief. A bird — a white-bellied caique parrot — was stolen from the Pet Supermarket in the Gleason Place Shopping Center on Dec. 5. The bird is valued at $4,000, the store manager told officers responding to the theft.

The Lake Shore Hospital Authority just want some clarification. At its 5:15 p.m. meeting Monday, the authority’s board of trustees is set to discuss, with possible action, the 12 parcels it donated to the City of Lake City to serve as the site of the new city hall.
