Daytime shooting sparks 3 arrests

A shooting at a Lake City apartment complex Wednesday morning led to three arrests. Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to apartments off of SW Pizarro Place at 10:20 a.m. after a male suspect fired shots at occupants of a vehicle parked in front of the complex.

A potential ’solution’ for Lake Shore

With its big prize of the main hospital building off the table for smaller medical companies, the Lake Shore Hospital Authority began its search for tenants to occupy other, smaller buildings on its campus.

County looks to cut out mowing issue

Columbia County’s mowing issues are growing as long as the tall that lines the county’s roadways. “I don’t have enough fingers, toes or in between, to count all the complaints,” said Kevin Kirby, assistant county manager.

Seeking second opinions: LSHA to consider options for other facilities on campus

Though the main hospital building on the Lake Shore Hospital Authority campus may be the crown jewel, a handful of other organizations believe the campus’s auxiliary buildings are at least worthy of  their time.

Elks Lodge raises $6,500 for deputy injured in drug bust

A Saturday afternoon barbecue is a common occurrence for families. However, last Saturday the local Elks Lodge held a barbecue dinner fundraiser where community members became family raising more than $6,000 for Deputy Shane Hartopp, who was injured in the line of duty.

County GOP rallies begin in Mason City

Political talking season is here. The Columbia County Republican Party will hold the first of its two campaign rallies this evening in Mason City. The second event is set for July 28 at the Florida Gateway Fairgrounds. The Mason City rally will start at 6 p.m.
