Historian seeks donations for WWI memorial

CCSO bringing ‘Summer Nights’ program back

Meeting and making new friends in the summertime is as common as eating a bowl of ice cream and the deputies with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office have a recipe where they’ll have an opportunity to make several new friends. The sheriff’s office will hold its “Summer Nights” event from 5-8 p.m.

Suwannee board buys land near Catalyst Site

LIVE OAK — Looking to add on to their economic development puzzle, the Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners added a “significant” missing piece of property Tuesday. During its regular meeting, the board unanimously authorized executing an option to purchase 84.

Roadhouse hits the road

The old roadhouse is gone. And as demolition on the former Texas Roadhouse location on U.S. Highway 90 continues, remnants of the restaurant will be cleared — and washed — away.

ST. JACOB, Ill. — A plane crash Saturday claimed the life of a Lake City man. According to information from the Illinois State Police, a White Piper Comanche 250 took off from St. Louis Metro East Airport in St. Jacob, Ill.

As we come together to honor our nation’s Independence, I thought that it would be fun to look back at the past and see how our community has observed the 4th of July over the years and how those events have shifted and changed.
