Two people were shot and a Jacksonville man was killed in northern Lake City early Saturday morning.
According to the Lake City Police Department, officers conducting a traffic stop around 1 a.m. Saturday heard gunfire a few blocks away and responded.
When they arrived to 877 N. Marion Avenue, officers found two gunshot victims, one in a vehicle parked next to a residence and one laying on the ground nearby.
The subject inside the vehicle, later identified as Brandon Jackson, a 32-year-old Jacksonville man, was deceased.
The other victim, whose identity has not been released due to the ongoing investigation, was treated on scene and transported to an area hospital.
Members of LCPD’s Criminal Investigation Division along with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted analysis of the crime scene.
“At this time, we do not believe there to be a continuing threat to the public in the area,” Lake City Police Chief Gerald Butler said in the release. “While we continue to investigate the incident, we believe it was contained to the persons involved.”
