Ryleigh Hermanson set a new Suwannee girls school record on Saturday, finishing with a time of 19:35 to place 66th out of 309 runners at the New World Fall Spectacular Elite Race at the Cecil Field Golf Course.

PREP VOLLEYBALL: Branford, Lafayette & Suwannee seeded for playoffs

The volleyball playoffs are finally here. The Florida High School Athletic Association released the brackets for all classes on Saturday following the conclusion of all the state’s district tournaments, and three area teams made the postseason.

LIVE OAK — Another week, another one-score game entering the fourth quarter for Suwannee. But after a season of late-game struggles, the Bulldogs flipped the script Friday night at Langford Stadium.

PREP FOOTBALL: Fort White gets scorched in Newberry

NEWBERRY — Fort White was a clear underdog heading into Friday’s game against Newberry. The double-reverse pass the Indians ran on the first play from scrimmage reflected that fact. The fact that the play went for negative yardage was simply a harbinger of what was to follow.

PREP FOOTBALL: Lafayette rolls past Trenton on Senior Night

BRANFORD — A botched snap on the first play from scrimmage was the only bad thing to happen to Lafayette all night. After that, it was smooth sailing for the Hornets en route to victory on Senior Night.

BOYS GOLF — Lafayette 176, Madison County 204, Branford 209: Gavin Barnes took medalist honors with a 42 to lead the Hornets to victory in a tri-match over the Cowboys and Buccaneers at Quail Heights. Hayden Thomas added a 44 while Jaxson McCray and Cooper Kerby each carded a 45 for LHS.

PREP VOLLEYBALL: Suwannee rallies from 2 sets down to beat Wakulla for first district title since 2016

LIVE OAK — Suwannee was on the verge of being swept, trailing Wakulla by two points late in the third set. But with its playoff hopes quickly dimming, the Bulldogs rallied for a 25-22 win to keep the match alive.

PREP FOOTBALL: Newberry’s front seven to pose big problems for Fort White offense

FORT WHITE — The road to a potential better seed in the upcoming playoffs doesn’t start off easy for Fort White. Coming off a bye week after handling Lafayette 32-21 on Oct. 4, Indians coach Demetric Jackson said his team has been using that time to get all players’ bodies and minds right.
