PREP FOOTBALL: Hawthorne rolls over Lafayette in Class Rural quarterfinals

HAWTHORNE — As big underdogs against top-seeded Hawthorne, Lafayette took a chance early. Facing a 4th-and-1 from his own 44-yard line on the game’s opening possession, head coach Marcus Edwards opted to go for it to try and snatch momentum early.

LIVE OAK — The two teams couldn’t be more opposite in their current state of development, and it showed in Friday night’s mismatch as Columbia overtook host Suwannee in a decisive 60-26 final.

BOYS SOCCER — Santa Fe 2, Columbia 1: Trace Williams scored a goal on an assist from Peyton Palmer but the Tigers (2-2-2) fell to the Raiders (6-1) on the road thanks to a pair of goals from Jose Bustamante and Mason Kramer. CHS goalkeeper Logan Wheeldon made four saves in the loss.
