BOYS SOCCER — Branford 6, Trenton 1: Carlos Contreras recorded a hat trick while Victor Hernandez, Toby Contreras, Angel Contreras and Alan McGriff scored a goal apiece to lead the Buccaneers (1-1) to a win over the Tigers (1-2) at home.

FORT WHITE — Fort White High School announced Thursday that it is hiring Jessica Robinson as its new softball coach, pending school board approval Robinson moves over from Fort White Middle School, where she led the team to a 14-1-1 record and the SMAC championship last season as its head coach.

LIVE OAK — Suwannee has gotten a second chance. Two months after blowing an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter against Godby, the Bulldogs will open the Class 3A playoffs right back in Tallahassee against the Cougars at 7 p.m. Friday at Gene Cox Stadium in the Region 1-3A quarterfinals.
