FORT WHITE — Fort White is trying not to put too much stock in Friday’s season opener. Instead, the Indians see the road to a deep playoff run getting back on track this week. Fort White (0-1) plays host to Belleview (0-1) for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Friday with plenty to prove.

PREP FOOTBALL: Suwannee aims to bounce back against Lafayette following blowout loss

LIVE OAK — Suwannee coach Kyler Hall can’t wait to get to Dale Walker Field. Stuck with the bad taste of a 42-6 beatdown to rival Columbia left in his mouth since last Friday night, Hall is eager for the Bulldogs to get a new start. That will come at 7:30 p.m.

Columbia quarterback Xavier Collins and receiver Kyren Caldwell have had a connection going back to their days at Lake City Middle. In Friday night’s 42-6 win over Suwannee in the teams’ season opener, it was on full display.

The reigning LCR Runners of the Year made their cases for repeat honors to open the 2025 cross country season on Saturday. Suwannee senior Ryleigh Hermanson and sophomore Logan Haley won their respective races at the Dueling Summits in Tallahassee to kick off the new year.

LIVE OAK — Xavier Collins said he wants to be the best quarterback in the area. The junior got off to a good start Friday night. Collins threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more scores to lead Columbia to a 42-6 win against Suwannee at Langford Stadium.

PREP FOOTBALL: Turnovers, penalties plague Fort White in loss to Taylor County

PERRY — Momentum at Dorsett Stadium was more elusive than any Taylor County ballcarrier. The Indians turned the ball over three times in their opponent's territory, while the Bulldogs rushed for 114 yards in the second half in Friday’s 20-3 loss.

ROUNDUP: Lafayette routs Dixie County, Branford falls to NFEI

CROSS CITY — An early run from Tywan Williamson sparked a bigger run for Lafayette as a whole. The senior quarterback broke a big touchdown run early, and the Hornets never looked back as they routed Dixie County 41-0 to begin the season.
