Nobody walked away as the clear-cut starter at quarterback for Columbia at the end of last year. One of those guys even walked away from the team this offseason for a rival, while another is now embedded in a four-man battle that could last all of spring practice.

LIVE OAK — Suwannee has one large All-State hole in the backfield this spring. Gone is quarterback Jaquez Moore, who signed with Duke in December, and the 2,529 yards of total offense and 35 touchdowns he accounted for.

FORT WHITE — Tyler Jefferson missed spring practice prior to his freshman year due to a torn ACL. In 2020, covid-19 prevented him from taking the field. Now, ahead of his junior season, it’s another knee injury that’s sidelined Fort White’s promising young quarterback.
