Nobody walked away as the clear-cut starter at quarterback for Columbia at the end of last year. One of those guys even walked away from the team this offseason for a rival, while another is now embedded in a four-man battle that could last all of spring practice.

COLLEGE SPORTS: Florida retreats on launch for athlete compensation

TALLAHASSEE — Florida lawmakers did a reverse play on an athletes compensation bill just before the clock ran out Friday, after college athletes and others called foul on an attempt to delay their ability to hire agents and ink endorsement deals.

PREP FOOTBALL: Fort White QB Tyler Jefferson will miss spring practice after another knee surgery

FORT WHITE — Tyler Jefferson missed spring practice prior to his freshman year due to a torn ACL. In 2020, covid-19 prevented him from taking the field. Now, ahead of his junior season, it’s another knee injury that’s sidelined Fort White’s promising young quarterback.
