BOYS WEIGHTLIFTING: Suwannee leads area with 14 state qualifiers, seven for Columbia

The FHSAA released the names of all the state qualifiers for weightlifting on Tuesday. Leading was Suwannee with 11 lifters in the traditional which included Region 1-2A champions Ricardo Garcia at 119 pounds and Sam Wainwright at 169 pounds.

FHSAA RANKINGS: Five area teams holding playoff spots in baseball & softball

The Columbia and Suwannee baseball teams keep winning games. As a result, they keep holding on to their top spots in their respective regions. Columbia (12-2) was once again ranked first in Region 1-5A in the latest FHSAA rankings released on Tuesday, holding a 15.

GAINESVILLE — Florida big man Colin Castleton is returning for a fifth season, a huge boost for new coach Todd Golden. Castleton, a 6-foot-11 forward from nearby DeLand who transferred to Florida after two years at Michigan, led the Gators in scoring and rebounding last season. He averaged 16.
