NFL: Jaguars LT Robinson signs 1-year, $16.7M franchise tender

JACKSONVILLE — Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson signed his franchise tender Wednesday, guaranteeing him $16.7 million this season. Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke and new coach Doug Pederson have said repeatedly they hope to sign Robinson to a long-term deal.

PREP SOFTBALL: Fort White falls to Lafayette to open big district week

FORT WHITE — A big week began with a little setback. The first of three district games in as many days resulted in a loss for Fort White, which fell to Lafayette 7-3 at home Tuesday night.

PREP BASEBALL: Fort White tops Madison County for eighth win in a row

BOYS WEIGHTLIFTING: Suwannee leads area with 14 state qualifiers, seven for Columbia

The FHSAA released the names of all the state qualifiers for weightlifting on Tuesday. Leading was Suwannee with 11 lifters in the traditional which included Region 1-2A champions Ricardo Garcia at 119 pounds and Sam Wainwright at 169 pounds.

FHSAA RANKINGS: Five area teams holding playoff spots in baseball & softball

The Columbia and Suwannee baseball teams keep winning games. As a result, they keep holding on to their top spots in their respective regions. Columbia (12-2) was once again ranked first in Region 1-5A in the latest FHSAA rankings released on Tuesday, holding a 15.

BOYS WEIGHTLIFTING: Suwannee edges Baker County by a point for Region 1-2A title; Columbia places 3rd

LIVE OAK — When Suwannee junior Brandon Robinson hit his final lift of Saturday’s regional meet, he carried more than the 300 pounds with him. Robinson’s personal best in the clean and jerk also hoisted hardware for the Bulldogs.
