Here's are the results for Tuesday's volleyball and golf matches in the area: VOLLEYBALL — Columbia 2, Bell 0; Lowndes 2, Columbia 0: The Tigers (6-5) split a tri-match at home Tuesday night, beating the Bulldogs (6-4) 25-21, 26-24 after falling to the Vikings (17-4) 25-16, 25-14.

PREP FOOTBALL: Jackson mum on Columbia starting QB vs. Madison County

Last week Columbia head coach Demetric Jackson made the surprise move to start Evan Umstead at quarterback over Tyler Jefferson. As for who starts this week, well, that will be a surprise too.

PREP SPORTS: FHSAA releases winter districts for next 2 seasons

With time ticking down, the FHSAA finally released new classifications and districts for the winter sports on Tuesday just two months before the season begins. The new district alignments are in place for the next two seasons and are based on school enrollment.

PREP ROUNDUP: CHS drops swim meet, plus Monday's volleyball & golf scores

Columbia’s swim teams drop a dual meet to Oak Hall on Monday, with the boys losing 125-98 and the girls losing 142-139. Individual winners for CHS were as follows: Boys: — Ian Disosway (200 freestyle: 2:00.50; 100 breaststroke: 1:04.83) — Seth Grubb (50 freestyle: 27.20; 100 freestyle: 1:02.

There was nothing tricky about the way Columbia earned its first victory of the season over DeLand. The winning formula was simple. Quarterback Tyler Jefferson took the snaps for the majority of the second half, securely tucked the ball and took off.

PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Mobley leads Suwannee boys to second-place finish at Panther Invite

Morgan Mobley placed second at the St. John Paul II Panther Invite on Saturday to lead Suwannee’s boys to a second-place finish with 67 points, just four behind Chiles. The SHS girls also placed third with 74 points behind Chiles (35) and Florida High (54). Mobley crossed the finish line at 18:04.

NFL: Commanders come back to beat Jaguars
