PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Mobley leads Suwannee boys to second-place finish at Panther Invite

Morgan Mobley placed second at the St. John Paul II Panther Invite on Saturday to lead Suwannee’s boys to a second-place finish with 67 points, just four behind Chiles. The SHS girls also placed third with 74 points behind Chiles (35) and Florida High (54). Mobley crossed the finish line at 18:04.

LANDOVER, Md.— New coach, same result for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Still, Doug Pederson's debut provided reasons to believe the team won't be stuck in its familiar losing pattern. The Jaguars roared back Sunday from a deficit before allowing two late touchdown drives to the Washington Commanders.

NFL: Commanders come back to beat Jaguars

PREP FOOTBALL: Special teams miscues cost SHS

LIVE OAK — The Suwannee Bulldogs have to be kicking themselves after Friday night’s performance. Mistake after mistake on special teams loomed large as the Bulldogs dropped their home opener, allowing Chiefland to escape Langford Stadium with a 14-13 win.

BELL — Another big night from Cohen David and a stingy defensive performance added up to another big Branford win. David threw for two touchdowns, rushed for two more and the Buccaneers pitched their second straight shutout as they routed host Bell 39-0.

PREP FOOTBALL: Hornets sting Trojans late

MAYO — Lafayette is back on the winning track. Pulling away from visiting Hamilton County late, the Hornets seized a 34-20 win at Dale Walker Field on Friday to improve to 2-1. “They kept fighting,” Lafayette coach Marcus Edwards said of his Hornets.
