LIVE OAK — As soon as he scheduled North Marion, Suwannee head coach Kyler Hall knew what to expect from the Colts. “They’re very good but I’ve never known too many North Marion teams to not be good,” Hall said Wednesday. That knowledge comes first-hand for Hall.

PREP FOOTBALL: Lafayette faces Zarephath Academy on an emotional high

MAYO — After building a two-touchdown cushion midway in the third quarter, Lafayette didn’t exactly cruise to the finish line against Hilliard last Friday. With a 21-7 lead, “we felt we were in a pretty good situation,” recalled LHS head coach Marcus Edwards.

PREP ROUNDUP: Results and stats for Tuesday's swimming/volleyball/golf events

Suwannee’s boys swim team tallied 118 points to edge Yulee (107) and Columbia (102) in a tri-meet on Tuesday. Yulee’s girls won with 175 points, with Columbia finishing second with 124 and Suwannee ending with 103. Columbia and Yulee tied for most events won with nine.

PREP FOOTBALL: Columbia run game taking off behind improved O-line

For the first time in the past couple of years, Columbia appears to have found a consistent running game. The Tigers’ success the past two weeks in wins over DeLand and Madison County has come courtesy of quarterback Tyler Jefferson and running back Tony Fulton.

PREP FOOTBALL NOTEBOOK: 4 points of interest from Week 4's games

Beating Madison County was always going to be a little extra special for Columbia head coach Demetric Jackson. Jackson had countless battles against the Cowboys when he coached at Fort White. Most didn’t go his way, going 1-8 with two heart-breaking losses in the regional finals.
