LIVE OAK — The Live Oak City Council will consider its tentative millage rate and budget next week. During its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 101 SE White Avenue in Live Oak, the council will hold its tentative budget hearings.

Suwannee board votes to maintain flat millage rate

LIVE OAK — Suwannee County’s tax rate is set to remain the same in the next fiscal year. During a brief meeting Thursday night, the Suwannee County Commission unanimously set its preliminary millage rate and budget following public hearings on both matters.

Lafayette man shot, killed wife

MAYO — A Lafayette County man is in custody for the murder of his wife Tuesday. Lafayette County Sheriff Brian Lamb said the investigation into the shooting death continues as deputies try to piece together what took place.

CCSO: Fort White man fired at deputy

FORT WHITE — A Fort White man is in custody after authorities say he fired a shot at a Columbia County deputy. Dale Rubanick, 40, was arrested early Saturday morning on charges of attempted second-degree murder, simple battery and felon in possession of a firearm.

Live Oak man charged for fake claims after June joyride

MCALPIN — A June joyride through a hay field and pine field in southern Suwannee County has led to the arrest of a Live Oak man. According to a Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office report, 38-year-old Joshua McClellan called 911 around 12:45 a.m.
