FWHS adds metal detectors

FORT WHITE — The Columbia School District has added another level of security at Fort White High School with the addition of several metal detectors.

Woman critically injured at restaurant

LIVE OAK — A Live Oak woman was critically injured as a car hit her in front of a Live Oak restaurant Sunday afternoon. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 62-year-old Live Oak woman and a 63-year-old Live Oak man were in front of the Fusion Buffet across from Walmart on U.S.

Fort White names room after Amaya

FORT WHITE — Sharing memories, music and tears, more than 100 people gathered in the Fort White High School band room Monday evening to honor the school’s first band director, the late Ed Amaya.

Contested Live Oak budget approved

LIVE OAK — Despite questions and confusion over $94,000 in positions in the city’s finance department, the Live Oak City Council passed its tentative budget Tuesday night. The city’s $53 million budget was approved by a 4-1 vote with Councilman Tommie Jefferson dissenting.

Dozen honored at Autumn Artfest reception

LIVE OAK — A dozen artists took home honors from the Live Oak Artists Guild’s annual Autumn Artfest reception. The reception, which opens the annual fine arts exhibition at the Suwannee River Regional Library’s branch in Live Oak, was held last Saturday with 12 artists placing for their work.

LO man charged in stab attack

LIVE OAK — An unwanted visitor turned a friendly card game into an attack Saturday afternoon. Adalid Diaz, 55, was arrested Saturday and charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery after he stabbed a man according to the Live Oak Police Department.

Suwannee TDC honored among state’s best

LIVE OAK — Suwannee County’s efforts to attract visitors is officially one of the best in the state. During the Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism last week at the Tampa Convention Center, the Suwannee County Tourist Development Council received a pair of Flagler Awards from Visit Florida.
