Bill to dissolve White Springs headed to House

TALLAHASSEE — The dissolution of White Springs’ town government is now headed to the floor of the Florida House of Representatives. The House State Affairs Committee voted 19-6 on Tuesday to support HB 4079, which will abolish the town’s government. It was the bill’s final committee stop.

White Springs mayor, vice mayor resign

WHITE SPRINGS — The Town of White Springs will need a new mayor. It may also soon need a new vice mayor. At the end of a short town hall workshop at the White Springs Public Library on Tuesday, Mayor Jacqueline Williams resigned her position on the Town Council, effective immediately.

Branford men arrested on CSAM charges

BRANFORD – In two separate criminal investigations, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement recently arrested two Branford men on felony possession of child sexual abuse material charges.

Babysitter sentenced in child abuse case

A Suwannee County babysitter was sentenced to 10 years in prison following “one of the worst” cases of child abuse last year. According to a Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office release Tuesday, Heather Hogan was sentenced to 10 years after being convicted of child neglect and aggravated child abuse.

Torch Run takes first responders for a jog

LIVE OAK — Local law enforcement agencies in Suwannee County united in its signature event on Friday. The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, which helps raise awareness and benefits athletes participating in the Special Olympics, passed through Live Oak’s city limits.
