LIVE OAK — A week after learning about the loss of $7 million in grant funds, the Suwannee County Commission unanimously decided to find out how that occurred.

Even with the town’s future in limbo, White Springs is adding to its leadership team. The town held a pair of elections Tuesday, one special and one regular, to fill four seats on the town council. The elections occurred while the Florida Legislature considers a bill to dissolve the town’s charter.

Arrest made in Jasper murder case

JASPER — An arrest has been made in the murder of a Jasper man. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ja-Shaun Devontae House on Tuesday for the “brutal” murder of Jasper’s Lance Michael Butler, according to a release. House has been charged with second degree homicide.

LIVE OAK — An unwanted Christmas gift is still providing issues for the City of Live Oak. The water main leak on Howard Street (U.S. Highway 90) that washed out a portion of the annual Christmas on the Square has caused a second repair on the major roadway.

LIVE OAK — After quickly taking care of its lone piece of business Tuesday, the Live Oak Community Redevelopment Agency turned its attention to Tallahassee.

LIVE OAK — Residences in Live Oak may be better prepared for fire safety thanks to a pair of local businesses. Last week, Security Safe and Rob Cathcart State Farm teamed up to donate 50 smoke detectors to the Live Oak Fire Department.
