LIVE OAK — Thirty teams in two brackets raised more than $5,000 for the United Way of Suwannee Valley. Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative’s third annual Suwannee Valley Cornhole Tournament raised $5,028 for United Way, an increase of nearly $1,600 from last year.

Steak fight leads to jail for Suwannee pair

BRANFORD — Instead of serving as dinner, steaks became a weapon in a fight in southeastern Suwannee County on Tuesday night. According to the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office, Curtis Lorett, 44, and Kayla Lorett, 38, threw steaks at each other during a fight around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Lake Shore Hospital Authority officials are considering applying for CARES funding to recoup costs associated with covid-19. During Monday afternoon’s Lake Shore Hospital Authority Board meeting, a concerned resident asked whether the board had applied for any CARES funding.
