Stolen guns, drugs found after traffic stop

Stopped for an inoperable headlight Saturday night, a Lake City man was found with stolen firearms and marijuana. According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Stanley Maxwell Jr., 20, of a SE Charmont Lane address, was pulled over around 7:10 p.m.

A single-vehicle crash Thursday night sparked a drug bust that led to three arrests and the recovery of firearms, a large sum of cash and drugs. According to the Lake City Police Department, responding to a car crash around 7:35 p.m.

Region bracing for Eta’s impact

The fast-moving Tropical Storm Eta is expected to impact North Central Florida today as it makes its way towards the Atlantic Ocean. How big of an impact, though, depends on just how quickly the storm progresses, according to Shayne Morgan, Columbia County’s Emergency Management director.
