A Lake City man was arrested Sunday evening after being accused on inappropriately touching a child. According to a Lake City Police Department report, a child told officers he was on his skateboard when it got stuck on NW Archer Street on the west side of town.

1 critically injured in daytime shooting

One person was critically injured Monday morning when their residence north of Lake City was struck by gunfire. According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, a 26-year-old was transported to an area hospital in critical condition after being shot around 10 a.m.

While temperatures are heating up with summer approaching, the playground equipment at Kiwanis Park is fixing to stay cool. The Kiwanis Club of Lake City has erected a shade structure over the playground equipment, a key ingredient of about $20,000 worth of improvements made at the park.

FORT WHITE — Just days before celebrating prom, Fort White High School students were delivered a somber message. First responders held a mock crash at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday, alerting students to the potential consequences of distracted, impaired or drunk driving.
