Hanging out nearly turns into abduction

It wasn’t the type of hanging out that a Lake City woman was looking for. Inviting an acquaintance through social media over to hang out at her SE Inglewood Avenue residence over the weekend, the Lake City police say the woman instead was a victim of an attempted kidnapping.

Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run

Authorities are searching for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident Friday evening that killed a Lake City woman. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 48-year-old woman was standing in the roadway near NE Moody Court across from the Lake City Gateway Airport just before 7 p.m.
