Library hosts local artist Cieslik

The Columbia County Library in downtown Lake City is hosting a one-artist show by award-winning local artist Carol Cieslik. A collection of Cieslik’s pastels and watercolors is housed in the library entryway. Cieslik is largely self-taught as an artist but has always loved art.

Dream Machine provides for 550 children

Bags of toys sat on the floor of a Main Boulevard building Sunday, the remaining pieces to deliver Christmas to several area children. Some bags contained toys, balls, dolls, Nerf guns, makeup or books. Others even contained a television, fishing rod and reel or an electric organ.

Kids Feeding Kids gives out presents for holiday season

Saturday and Sunday afternoon weren’t the traditional business days at the Kids Feeding Kids Thrift Store. Rather, a large contingent of volunteers had amassed at the store, putting the final touches on Christmas baskets that would be going to area families for the holiday.

City, county offices closed Friday, Monday

City’s holiday event draws thousands to downtown

Thousands of people showed up at Olustee Park on Saturday for the city’s second Holiday Market.

Paying homage to the fallen

Local veterans paid homage to fallen soldiers across the country as well as fallen friends and comrades Saturday. The local Wreaths Across America ceremony was held at noon in Olustee Park, where a large contingent of veterans had seats set up near the memorials in the park.

Memorial needs minor repairs

Memorial Stadium has been a community fixture for decades and it appears the stadium has more years of service to offer. But first, the stadium needs an estimated $50,000 worth of minor repairs.

Country Club on auction block

The Country Club at Lake City may soon be under new ownership. The 18-hole, semi-private golf course has been listed for auction by Christovich & Associates. The auction is scheduled for Jan. 18-20 with a starting bid of $300,000.
