Altrusa eyes funds, flavor with 'fiesta'

Lake City is scheduled to get a bit of latin flavor on Friday night as the Altrusa International Club of Lake City, hosts its inaugural Fiesta Friday For A Cause event. Fiesta Friday For A Cause will take place from 5-10 p.m.

The 70th annual National Day of Prayer has arrived and events are scheduled for both Lake City and Live Oak. Believers in Lake City will gather at Olustee Park in front of Lake City Hall in downtown Lake City at noon today.

LCPD collects unused meds in Take Back

Local authorities collected loads of unused and expired medication on Saturday in an effort to properly dispose of them. The Lake City Police Department participated in the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 30 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m..

10 contestants vying for ‘Golden Voice’ trophy Friday

After more than six months of wading through preliminary rounds, it’s almost time to find out who has the golden voice? Ten local vocalists are competing Friday for the top prize and honors in the final round of the 18th annual Columbia’s Top Talent competition, scheduled for 7 p.m.

College honoring Brannan as top alumnus

A longtime college trustee and current state representative will be honored by Florida Gateway College this week. During Friday’s commencement ceremonies in the Howard Center — 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. — Chuck Brannan will be recognized as the college’s Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.
