How is David Kraus doing as Columbia County’s manager? It matters which county commissioner you’re asking. Per the county charter, the commission had to evaluate Kraus’ performance at its Thursday meeting.

Goodbye Drummond Community Bank. Hello Seacoast Bank. The two banks reached a deal this week for Seacoast, which is headquartered in Stuart, to purchase Drummond, which is based in Chiefland and has two branches in Lake City, one in Fort White and another in Mayo.

Authorities say no foul play is suspected in an inmate death Thursday at the Columbia County Detention Facility. According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, EMS assistance was requested at the jail around noon Thursday after jail staff found the unresponsive inmate.

Taking root a year ago, the City of Lake City Spring Market will be in full bloom Saturday. With some nurturing, Lake City Community Program Manager Terri Phillips has watcher her spring event grow and blossom since its inception last May. When the Spring Market returns to Olustee Park from 10 a.m.
