Park grant funds, city manager update on city agenda

A few proposed ordinances in new business, time for public comments and the lingering baggage discussion of what progress the mayor and City Council have made toward possibly hiring a City Manager all will be on the agenda when the Lake City Council convenes in regular session Monday night.

Burnham, others to be honored at Public Service Memorial

The late Chief Randy Burnham served as a Lake City Firefighter for more than 30 years, often risking his life in the line of duty to protect others and their property. Burnham passed away last year in a Gainesville Hospital after fighting a nearly monthlong battle with covid-19.

FGC makes pitch to Lake Shore

The Lake Shore Hospital Authority officially has another option on how to utilize its Lake City campus. Florida Gateway College, represented by President Lawrence Barrett, pitched its own vision for the buildings surrounding Lake DeSoto.

Two injured during busy night for LCPD

A pair of violent events Tuesday had Lake City Police Department officers working double duty. Officers responded to a call around 10:54 p.m. Tuesday detailing a stabbing that took place along SE Church Avenue, according to an LCPD release.

Howell to be June’s featured artist at Gateway Art Gallery

The Gateway Art Gallery is set to promote a new artist next week. Linda Howell, a native Floridian and graduate of the University of Florida, will be the gallery’s Featured Artist beginning Friday with a public reception from 5-7 p.m. The gathering will be free for the public to join.

Springs attract thousands over Memorial Day weekend

Tubers, kayakers, swimmers, canoers and other visitors enjoyed the beauty and uniqueness of the Ichetucknee River over the Memorial Holiday weekend, signaling the unofficial beginning of summer as well as the start of tubing season.
