FGC ‘excited’ over nursing funding

It is just what the doctor — and college administrators — ordered. Monday’s announcement from Gov. Ron DeSantis of the approval of more than $125 million for nursing education in the upcoming state budget was met with excitement at Florida Gateway College.

Century thanks first responders

Area first responders were treated to one giant ‘thank you’ Wednesday afternoon. Century Ambulance hosted a luncheon for first responders, attracting paramedics, law enforcement officers, and firefighters to a celebration of Emergency Medical Services Week.

Authorities are still trying to figure out what led to a Lake City gas station filling up with gunfire Wednesday afternoon.

Ongoing feud results in melee

The third time was the charm for the Lake City Police Department. Eight people, including one juvenile, were arrested after the LCPD received a call around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday about a disturbance at Cedar Park Apartments, according to an LCPD release.

Fort White graduating ‘close-knit’ seniors

FORT WHITE — The final chapter of high school is coming Friday for a group of Fort White High School students. More than 100 Indians will graduate Friday night when the school holds its annual commencement exercises. Fort White will hold its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2022 at 8 p.m.

New chiefs sworn in

It’s now official. The Lake City Police Department and Lake City Fire Department have new chiefs. And new assistant chiefs for good measure following a joint pinning/promotional ceremony Tuesday night.
