The year-plus search for a city manager may be winding down for the City of Lake City. The Lake City Council tabled a discussion from Thursday’s special-called meeting to remove the interim tag from Paul Dyal’s title and give him the job permanently.

Summer vacation ended Wednesday morning when hundreds of Columbia School District teachers returned to their schools and classrooms to prepare for the 2022-23 school year. Roger Little, Eastside Elementary School principal, was optimistic about seeing the return of teachers.

County officials plan to use a new approach to handling the county’s roadside mowing issues, which have now become a safety concern, with grass and weeds obscuring the vision of local traffic signs.

Saint Leo hosts birthday bash at LC campus

A local college office got the opportunity to celebrate its 25th birthday. Even amid the sweltering heat, it turned out to be all smiles. Saint Leo University has had a presence on the Florida Gateway College campus for a quarter of a century.

It’s roundabout time. The Florida Department of Transportation said it is swapping traffic configuration to a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and Bascom Norris Drive this morning.
