Inmate charged with murder

A state prisoner now finds himself in the Columbia County Detention Facility on murder charges. On Friday, 39-year-old Jeremy Reinert was booked into the county jail for premeditated first-degree murder.

As the weeks turned into months and Mayor Stephen Witt kept asking, Paul Dyal really started to consider it. Finally in recent weeks, Dyal agreed to take on the task of the City Lake City’s full-time manager should the Lake City Council authorize it, which could come as soon as Monday.

A garage door at a northeastern Lake City house got a new opening Thursday afternoon. According to the Lake City Police Department, officers responded to a house on NE Joe Coney Ave. at 4:09 p.m. Thursday to a report of gunfire.

According to law enforcement officials — and common sense — citizens should not abuse the 911 emergency line. One Lake City man found that out the hard way. Derek Tyler Butler, 29, was arrested Thursday after making six consecutive 911 calls between 3:29 a.m. and 5:28 a.
