Woman charged with attempted murder for hit and run

A Lake City woman was arrested Saturday morning after running down a victim in her car. According to a Lake City Police Department release, officers responded to the corner of South Marion Avenue and SW Crescent Street at 8:57 a.m.

New Lake City Manager Don Rosenthal bringing fresh vision

While Don Rosenthal didn’t start as Lake City’s manager until Monday, he’s been specifically prepping for this job — his “one last hurrah” — for more than two years. In March 2022, Rosenthal interviewed with the Lake City Council via Zoom for its vacant managerial position.

County looks to ‘trash’ disputes with Fort White

The Columbia County Commission took three votes Thursday that it hopes will dispose of disputes with the Town of Fort White. During the board’s Thursday morning meeting, it unanimously approved sending a dump truck and backhoe to the town to use with the town’s water utility.

The North Florida Water Utilities Authority is now official. And the independent special district may have a familiar face advising it through its infancy stages.

Construction is underway on a $10.6 million resurfacing project of U.S. Highway 41 in southern Columbia County.
