PREP ROUNDUP: Suwannee cruises past Newberry

PREP BASEBALL: Columbia run-rules Eagle's View, throws one-hitter

JACKSONVILLE — It was a business trip for Columbia. A quick one. The Class 5A No. 5 Tigers jumped on Eagle’s View for three runs in the first inning and never let up, scoring in all five frames for an 11-0 run-rule win on the road Tuesday night for their third straight victory.

PREP ROUNDUP: Compton's bat & arm lead Fort White past Keystone Heights

Kadence Compton delivered with her arm and bat — again. The senior homered twice, including a go-ahead two-run shot in the top of the seventh inning, and struck out 10 batters in a complete-game performance to lead Fort White to a 5-1 road win over Keystone Heights on Tuesday night.

TRENTON — A rematch of last year’s state championship game went to the runner-up Saturday night. Branford scored four runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-3 lead before holding on for a 9-6 road win over Trenton in the first of two meetings over a four-day span.
