PREP ROUNDUP: Columbia boys fall to Vanguard in hoops

Michael Jackson scored 18 points, Cayden Croskey had 14 and Dylan Harris added 10 to lead Vanguard to a 58-54 win over Columbia in the Tigers’ Den on Saturday night. The Knights (6-3) came back after trailing 25-21 at halftime.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Union County hands Fort White first loss of season

LAKE BUTLER — Fort White was fighting an uphill battle all night.  The climb never got over the height of the Union County forwards. The Indians fell into a 22-5 hole by the end of the first quarter Friday at Union County, losing by that same margin in a 72-55 setback to the Tigers.

Columbia’s soccer teams both came up empty at home Wednesday night. The CHS boys dropped their third straight match, falling to Buchholz 5-1 at Tiger Stadium while plagued by a few injuries.

COMMENTARY: Fort White's uphill battles getting tougher with FHSAA dropouts

FORT WHITE — There’s always another mountain to climb. Fort White thought it had its quarterback figured out to open the season, allowing Jayden Jackson to play out wide and make plays in space.
