BOYS BASKETBALL: Union County hands Fort White first loss of season

LAKE BUTLER — Fort White was fighting an uphill battle all night.  The climb never got over the height of the Union County forwards. The Indians fell into a 22-5 hole by the end of the first quarter Friday at Union County, losing by that same margin in a 72-55 setback to the Tigers.

Columbia’s soccer teams both came up empty at home Wednesday night. The CHS boys dropped their third straight match, falling to Buchholz 5-1 at Tiger Stadium while plagued by a few injuries.

FORT WHITE — There’s always another mountain to climb. Fort White thought it had its quarterback figured out to open the season, allowing Jayden Jackson to play out wide and make plays in space.

PREP FOOTBALL: Jackson says he’ll return to coach Fort White next season

FORT WHITE — Fresh off a comeback win in the FIT championship, the winningest coach in Fort White history is coming back for at least one more year.  Demetric Jackson officially announced his decision at the tail end of his weekly radio show on Power Country 102.

PREP FOOTBALL: FHSAA releases new districts for 2026, '27 seasons

Some new faces, and two old friends, will stand in Columbia’s path to a district title for the next two football seasons. The Florida High School Athletic Association released tentative new football districts on Monday, slotting the Tigers inside District 3-4A alongside five other schools.
