SOCCER: Columbia girls beat Suwannee, boys tie Wakulla

Marlee Hunt scored two goals and had an assist to help the Columbia girls hold off Suwannee 4-2 on Thursday at Langford Stadium. Leah Shields also had a goal and an assist while Laelle Thompson scored the other goal for the Lady Tigers (4-2-1), who also got an assist from Jenavieve Farer.

PREP GOLF: Suwannee's Donaldson wins Class 2A state title

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS — Making the turn Wednesday in the final round of the Class 2A state tournament, Suwannee’s Ryan Donaldson was frustrated. Through her first 27 holes at Mission Inn Resort + Club, Donaldson was pleased with the way she was playing, but her score didn’t show it.

BOYS SOCCER: Columbia takes first loss of season to Santa Fe

The Tigers looked like they sensed a momentum shift to begin the second half of Tuesday’s rivalry matchup. An early goal from an unlikely source knotted the score up at one apiece following a listless first half that saw Columbia concede the lead and most of the possession.

COMMENTARY: Columbia’s offensive twist a game changer in playoffs

Columbia coach Brian Allen said it best: “It’s postseason so it’s all bullets in the gun.” In Friday night’s blowout win in the Region 1-4A quarterfinals, the Tigers fired several of them.

PREP ROUNDUP: Columbia's soccer teams add a pair of wins

Leah Shields recorded a hat trick, which included a pair of penalty kicks, and also had an assist to lead Columbia’s girls soccer team to a 5-2 win over Branford on Monday night at CYSA. Marlee Hunt and Zoe Bulock also scored goals for the Tigers (3-2) while Paola Ortiz finished with two assists.

PREP FOOTBALL: Columbia blanks Rickards behind two-way stars for first playoff win since 2022

Kameron Mills wasn’t going down. Rickards linebacker Marlon Wilson had the Columbia linebacker turned running back dead to rights in the backfield on a 4th-and-1 during a scoreless contest early in the second quarter.
