State pays $5M to protect Baker County plantation

A nearly 2,400-acre Baker County farm will remain an agriculture property. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services announced Wednesday a $4.999 million conservation easement on South Prong, a working timber and hunting property south of Sanderson.

MAYO — A Branford man was killed early Saturday morning when his pickup hit a culvert east of Mayo. According to a Florida Highway Patrol release, a pickup was traveling east on U.S. Highway 27 when it ran off the roadway around 2:48 a.m. Saturday.

JENNINGS — Throwing a Molotov cocktail into someone’s house has landed a Jennings man in jail. According to a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office report, a green bottle with a lit fuse coming out of it was thrown through a window at a residence around 8:20 p.m. Friday.

District: Dry June causes rainfall deficit

LIVE OAK — A dry start to summer has North Florida facing a rainfall deficit, according to the Suwannee River Water Management District.
