DeSantis calls for special legislative session

TALLAHASSEE — Saying the issue can’t wait for the regular legislative session in March, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Monday he’s calling lawmakers into a special session this month to mesh Florida’s immigration policies with a crackdown planned by President-elect Donald Trump.

LIVE OAK — The Third Judicial Circuit officially has its newest judge. Kathryn ‘Katy’ Land underwent her investiture ceremony Friday afternoon at the Suwannee County Courthouse, surrounded by friends, family and fellow judges.

Pair killed in head-on Hamilton collision

JASPER — Two people were killed Wednesday morning in a head-on collision in Hamilton County. A Florida Highway Patrol release said a white pickup was headed east on State Road 6 around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday while a white box truck was headed west on the road at the same time.

January is National Blood Donor Month, and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers are kicking off 2025 by celebrating in helping to spread awareness toward the importance of giving blood.
