Suwannee woman killed after vans crash

O’BRIEN — An 86-year-old woman was killed in a crash Sunday night in southeastern Suwannee County. A Florida Highway Patrol said the woman was headed north on County Road 137 in a van when she failed to yield to traffic on State Road 247 (Branford Highway) around 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

Brush fire doused on house doorstep

COLUMBIA CITY — Minutes after waving to parade attendees in Fort White, a group of first responders found themselves waving the nozzles on fire extinguishers keeping flames at bay to save a local couple’s mobile home from a wind-aided brush fire. The incident occurred around 12:38 p.m.

Mayo man killed in van crash

BEACHVILLE — A Mayo man was killed Tuesday evening when the van he was riding in crashed with another vehicle in southeastern Suwannee County. The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash which occurred at 6:14 p.m. Tuesday at the State Road 247 and County Road 49 intersection.
