Carpenter tourney reeling in funds for AYA cancer victims

The Will Carpenter AYA Cancer Foundation hopes to reel in more than just fish Saturday in Steinhatchee. The foundation’s inaugural Will Carpenter Fishing for Hope Tournament also aims to bring hope and support for other adolescents and young adults battling cancer like Carpenter.

Howland’s celebrates 100 years in Live Oak

A 100-year celebration brought in hundreds more. The W.B. Howland Company parking lot at the roundabout in Live Oak was packed Saturday for the company’s anniversary celebration. The Live Oak store was established in 1926 by W.B. Howland and his brother, John Phillip Howland.

On a beautiful first Saturday in March, the Rotary Club of Branford proudly hosted its annual charity golf tournament at Quail Heights Country Club in Lake City.

Suwannee Riverkeeper songwriting contest opens

VALDOSTA — The ninth annual Suwannee Riverkeeper Songwriting Contest is now accepting submissions. Finalists, who will be selected by the organizing committee, will perform their songs at the WWALS River Revue sit-down fundraising dinner on Saturday, Sept. 12, 5-9 p.m.

Clay Foundation donates $10K to United Way

The United Way of Suwannee Valley received a jolt of extra funding thanks to Clay Electric Cooperative. The Clay Electric Foundation presented the United Way a $10,000 contribution from its Operation Round Up program.

LIVE OAK — The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is fixing to be a fun, festive and noisy destination this weekend. The party gets started tomorrow with Gainesville-based artist Clay Brooker performing country music.

SAR dedicates liberty tree for Suwannee

Spurred on by the spirit of liberty that led to the country’s founding 250 years ago, a tree took root in Heritage Park and Gardens last weekend.
