Walk-up testing sites await in Fort White

On Friday, the Florida Department of Health in Columbia County will offer covid-19 testing in Fort White to walk-up patients who meet the relevant criteria.  Testing will be conducted at the Fort White Clinic, 535 Dortch Street, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday.

Dates set for belated prom, graduation at Columbia High

School officials have been adamant about making sure seniors at Columbia and Fort White High still get the last big hurrah they’re owed, and now the dates have been set. Belated prom and graduation events are scheduled for late July and early August, said Superintendent Lex Carswell.

CHS seniors can’t have a graduation ceremony just yet, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get their time in the spotlight.

Two longtime friends will realize their dream of owning a neighborhood bar when “Prohibition,” a beer, wine and appetizers establishment opens in The Blanche this summer.

Still flush: Furloughs spur septic tank pump-outs

While small businesses everywhere are struggling, one service is still flush with customers.  More people are staying at home, and that means more people are using their own toilets rather than the facilities at work or school.

Feds to track nursing home deaths

NEW YORK — Calling nursing homes ground zero of the coronavirus crisis, federal officials said Monday they plan to start tracking and publicly sharing information on infections and deaths in such facilities to help spot trends and early signs the virus is spreading in communities.
