Covid-19 claims a fourth life in Columbia

Columbia County suffered its fourth covid-19 death, which was announced Tuesday, when a 74-year-old man died with the virus. According to information from the Florida Department of Health in Columbia County, the man was hospitalized at the time of his death.

1 killed, 2 injured in head-on crash

Two Lake City residents were injured and another Lake City man died in a Gainesville hospital from injuries they all sustained in a two-vehicle, head-on collision Monday night. The names of the vehicles’ occupants were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Civil War Monument: Olustee marker meeting delayed

City leaders are putting off a meeting about a request to relocate a Confederate monument in downtown Lake City, citing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.  The city is entertaining a proposal to move the monument to either the Olustee Battlefield in Baker County or Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Prominent people from local political and business circles gathered at the Columbia County Fairgrounds on Thursday afternoon for a meet and greet with state Senate candidate Jennifer Bradley, who is running for the District 5 seat currently held by her term-limited husband.
